Biology RepressorRepulsion

Reproduction is the biological process by which new individual organisms are produced. Reproduction is a fundamental feature of all known life; each individual organism exists as the result of reproduction.

Reproduction is the creation of one thing as a copy of, product of, or replacement for a similar thing, e.g. photocopying and the making of replicas.
It is perhaps most commonly used in the context of biological reproduction and sex: ...

reproduction
The production of offspring by organised bodies.

Reproduction
All living things reproduce....viruses, bacteria, amoebae, plants, animals, etc. Sometimes the new individual is an exact copy of the parent, except for new mutations, and sometimes it is the product of two parents.

PLANT REPRODUCTION - THEY'LL MAKE MORE
If you are an organism, you will need to reproduce. Otherwise, there will be no more of your species and the species will die off. You may have heard of endangered animals.

Human Reproduction Problem Set
This problem set is designed to help students understand the human reproductive system.

Asexual Reproduction
Asexual reproduction is the formation of new individuals from the cell(s) of a single parent.

Reproduction in which a cell doubles its contents and then divides into two identical cells.

FLOWERING PLANT REPRODUCTION: Flower Structure
Table of Contents
Animal life cycles have meiosis followed immediately by gametogenesis. Gametes are produced directly by meiosis. Male gametes are sperm. Female gametes are eggs or ova.

Many plants also have an asexual method of reproduction. Often some species, such as many orchids, are more frequently propagated vegetatively than via seeds. Tubers are fleshy underground stems, as in the Irish potato.

reproduction -- The manufacture of offspring as part of an organism's life cycle. This is not the same as dispersal. Reproduction may be sexual, involving the fusion of gametes, or asexual.
reticulate -- Interconnecting, like a network.

Reproduction of Cells."Reproduction of cells is effected either by direct or by indirect division.

Reproduction
When viral genetic material enters a cell, it is replicated, transcribed (mRNA is produced) and translated (proteins are produced from the mRNA) by the host cell.

sexual reproduction -- A type of reproduction in which two parents give rise to offspring that have unique combinations of genes inherited through the gametes of the two parents. Sexual reproduction involves meiosis and syngamy.

Sexual reproduction. The process where two cells (gametes) fuse to form one hybrid, fertilized cell. See Asexual reproduction, Gamete, Hybrid.

Asexual reproduction: Reproduction of the individual without the production of gametes and zygotes.
Assimilation efficiency: The fraction of ingested food that is absorbed and used in metabolism.

Asexual reproduction: Any form of reproduction not depending on a sexual process. It involves a single individual. Reproduction by cell division, fragmentation or budding.

Reproduction
Continuation of species or breed, sexually or through cell rupture, cell division, budding, spore formation, conjugation or parthenogenesis.

REPRODUCTION: Reproduction is the characteristic of living beings that permits the individuals to make replicas of their kind.

During reproduction a chromosome may break into two pieces or two chromosomes may be joined together. A section may be moved from one part of the chromosome to another or may be flipped in orientation (inverted).

sexual reproduction Reproduction involving fusion of gametes.
sexual selection Selection in relation to mating.

Asexual reproduction in bacteria and plants allows scientists to obtain genetically identical populations; this does not occur naturally in vertebrates, except in twins.

Well, this is a really important part of human biology and the biology of many other organisms that go through sexual reproduction. Basically, here's the problem: You've got a certain number of chromosomes; we humans have 46.

Unlike the chromosome, they are not involved in reproduction. Only the chromosome has the genetic instructions for initiating and carrying out cell division, or binary fission, the primary means of reproduction in bacteria.

Botany covers a wide range of scientific disciplines that study the growth, reproduction, metabolism, development, diseases, and evolution of plant life.

primary metabolite is essential for normal growth, development, and reproduction. A secondary metabolite is not essential for normal growth, development and reproduction, but usually has important ecological functions.

Reproduction is the process of one or more living things creating another living thing. Your parents created you. A mother and father dog reproduce, creating puppies.

neoteny - method of reproduction in which the offspring is produced while an organism is still in, or maintains many characteristics of, its larval or juvenile stage. Phylloxerans (Homoptera) exhibit neoteny, as do salamanders.

Defective phage
A phage that lacks one or more functions that are required for reproduction.
Defined medium

Dormancy: A recurring period in the life cycle of an organism when growth, development, and reproduction are suppressed.
