sexual dimorphism
two forms or types of a plant or animal because of its sex
Source: Noland, George B. 1983. General Biology, 11th Edition. St. Louis, MO. C. V. Mosby ...

Sexual selection is the theory that competition for mates between individuals of the same sex results in differential mating and reproduction. This mechanism can drive the evolution of certain traits and can lead to the amplification of those traits.

Asexual reproduction is the formation of new individuals from the cell(s) of a single parent.

Sexual selection is the theory proposed by Charles Darwin that states that the frequency of traits can increase or decrease depending on the attractiveness of the bearer.

Sexual reproduction requires two parents and thus promotes genetic variation.

Sexual reproduction occurs only in eukaryotes. During the formation of gametes, the number of chromosomes is reduced by half, and returned to the full amount when the two gametes fuse during fertilization.

Sexual PCR
PCR amplification in which similar, but not identical, DNA sequences are reassembled to obtain novel combinations of related, but variable sequences.

sexual reproduction -- A type of reproduction in which two parents give rise to offspring that have unique combinations of genes inherited through the gametes of the two parents. Sexual reproduction involves meiosis and syngamy.

Sexual selection by a mate, fertility, and the production of sufficient progeny to replace the parents are other adaptive traits necessary for the survival of a population. Attraction to and by a mate is essential and quite varied among species.

sexual dimorphism
(dy-mor-fiz-um)
A special case of polymorphism based on the distinction between the secondary sex characteristics of males and females.

sexual reproduction The process where two cells (gametes) fuse to form one fertilized cell or zygote. cf asexual reproduction; gamete; hybrid.

Sexual selection 2
In this post I present two models of sexual selection and a paper that tests one of the predictions of both models.

sexual selection Selection in relation to mating.

Sexual orientation is an independent parameter from gender identity. Those are two different things.

Well, this is a really important part of human biology and the biology of many other organisms that go through sexual reproduction. Basically, here's the problem: You've got a certain number of chromosomes; we humans have 46.
