SSR: Simple Sequence Repeat. See 'Microsatellite'.

Stable transfection: A form of transfection experiment designed to produce permanent lines of cultured cells with a new gene inserted into their genome.

Integrated PCR-CE microchips are now being used for the analysis of simple sequence repeat (SSR) loci in mammalian genomes.

Some of the methods used to study the genome or phylogenetics are RFLP, Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP), RAPD, SSR. They can be used to create genetic maps of whatever organism is being studied.
