Biology Termination codonTerminator region

antiterminator protein A protein that, when bound at its normal attachment sites in DNA, lets RNA polymerase read through normal terminator sequences (eg the N- and Q- gene products of phage lambda).

Terminator
A DNA sequence that results in termination of transcription. See Transcription terminator.
Terminus
The region of DNA sequences where DNA replication terminates.

terminator
A special sequence of nucleotides in DNA that marks the end of a gene; it signals RNA polymerase to release the newly made RNA molecule, which then departs from the gene.

terminator A sequence of DNA found at the end of a transcript, that causes RNA polymerase to terminate transcription.

Terminator region. A DNA sequence that signals the end of transcription.
Tetracycline. An antibiotic that interferes with protein synthesis in prokaryotes.

"Terminator" Genes
This term is used (by opponents of the practice) for transgenes introduced into crop plants to make them produce sterile seeds (and thus force the farmer to buy fresh seeds for the following season rather than saving seeds from ...

Terminator
The site on a DNA sequence at which transcription and DNA replication stops. Cf. origin.

Terminators are codes that indicate the end of a genetic message (gene).
An initiator codon (usually AUG) indicates where the genetic information begins.

In chain terminator sequencing (Sanger sequencing), extension is initiated at a specific site on the template DNA by using a short oligonucleotide 'primer' complementary to the template at that region.

Two major improvements were switches to BigDye terminator reactions for production and ET dye primer chemistry on ABI 373's for finishing. The boost in quality from these two process changes was quite evident using both our own base caller and Phred.

Transcription terminator A short base sequence found at the 3' end of a gene which causes the RNA polymerase to stop transcription.
TransfectionA general term to describe the introduction of recombinant or vector DNA into host cells.

An enzyme that, during transcription, attaches to the promoter region of the DNA template, joins nucleotides to form the synthesized strand of RNA and detaches from the template when it reaches the terminator region.

gene regulation differs from eukaryotic regulation, but since prokaryotes are much easier to work with, we focus on prokaryotes at this point. Promoters are sequences of DNA that are the start signals for the transcription of mRNA. Terminators are ...
