This bacterium can grow in the reproductive tract, including the cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes in women, as well as in the urethra in both men and women. The bacteria can also grow in the mouth, throat, and anus.

In mammalian males, the urethra also ties into the genital tract and sperm travel down the urethra also. However, there are controls that allow one or the other....urine OR sperm...to be released at any one time.

In males, the bacterium invades the urethra causing a discharge of pus and often establishes itself in the prostate gland and epididymis. In females, it spreads from the vagina to the cervix and fallopian tubes.

Mild intersex conditions include, in males, a condition in which the urethra opens on the underside of the penis or, in females, an enlarged clitoris.

Your kidneys are the core organs involved in the excretory system. Related body parts include the ureters, bladder, and urethra. Once the urine passes through your urethra, that's it, it's out of your body.

Occasionally that of the urine as it leaves the urethra may be of use. More usually the temperature is taken in the mouth, axilla or groin.

During intercourse, sperm stored in the epididymis move through the vas deferens and the urethra before being ejaculated. If intercourse is unprotected, several hundred million sperm are released inside the partner's vagina.

[L. vas - a canal carrying fluid; L. deferens - carrying away] A connecting duct in males between the epididymis of the testis and the urethra or cloaca; formed from the mesonephric duct. Synonym: ductus deferens.
