The Wolffian duct forms the epididymis, vas deferns, ductus deferens, ejaculatory duct, and seminal vesicle in the male reproductive system and essentially disappears in the female reproductive system.

In the male the Wolffian duct persists, and forms the tube of the epididymis, the ductus deferens and the ejaculatory duct, while the seminal vesicle arises during the third month as a lateral diverticulum from its hinder end.

The second excretory organ formed in the embryo, caudal to the pronephros. The pronephric ducts become mesonephric or Wolffian ducts. This kidney is fully functional in adult amphibians and fish.
