BOOT TOP: A painted line that indicates the designed waterline.
BOW: The forward part of a boat.
BOW LINE: A docking line leading from the bow.
BOWLINE: A knot used to form a temporary loop in the end of a line.

 


Boot Top - A painted stripe that indicates the waterline.
Bow - The forward part of a boat.

Boot top- A stripe of paint applied to the hull at the waterline.
Bow- The front, or forward end, of a boat.
Bow line- A mooring line at the bow.

boot top - A painted stripe that indicates the vessel's waterline.
bore - A sudden tide wave, which rolls along rapidly at certain times on some rivers, and makes a great noise.

A boot top should be about 10 per cent of the depth of overall freeboard; about 3in (75mm) for a yacht in Billy's size bracket. This way, the scum line will fall within it with some measure of tolerance either side.

BOOT TOP A panted line, just above the waterline. BOTTOM SHAPE As it affects performance in a planing boat. Maximum speed will be achieved when the bottom of the boat that forms the planing surface is flat.

Boot Stripe or Boot Top:
A painted stripe along the waterline delineating the topside from the bottom paint
Booty:
(1) Goods from a captured ship which was permitted to be distributed among the captors at once.

The length of the boat at the waterline.

WATERLINE - A line painted on a hull which shows the point to which a boat sinks when it is properly trimmed (see BOOT TOP).
WATER-WAYS - The long timbers running fore and aft that divide the decks from the vessel's sides.

BOOT TOPPING An outside area on a vessel's hull from bow to stern between certain waterlines to which special air, water, and grease-resisting paint is applied; also the paint applied to such areas.
