BOW SPRING LINE: A bow pivot line used in docking and undocking, or to prevent the boat from moving forward or astern while made fast to a pier.
BOWSPRIT: A spar extending forward from the bow.
Bow Spring Line:
A bow pivot line used in docking and undocking, or a dock line leading aft from the bow to prevent the boat from moving forward while made fast to a dock or pier.
after bow spring line - A mooring line fixed to the bow of the boat and leading aft where it is attached to the dock. This prevents the boat from moving forward in its berth.
after bow spring line - A mooring line; a line designated to control the motion of a vessel in its berth; a line connected near (or at) the bow to shore.
The after bow spring line is attached near the bow and runs aft, where it is attached to the dock. The forward quarter spring line is attached to the quarter of the boat, and runs forward, being attached to the dock near the bow of the boat.
A mooring line running forward from the stern of the boat. The forward quarter spring line prevents the boat from moving backward while moored. The after bow spring line does the opposite.
