braided line - A modern configuration of rope; may be single or double braided.

braided line: a line in which the strands are woven together, rather than twisted or laid up. Working lines are usually double braided, i.e., make up of two individually braided components, one inside for a core and a second outside for a cover.

Line: A rope in use aboard a vessel; laid line is formed by twisting three [sometimes four] strands; braided line may be single or braid over a core.

A braided line comprises a core of braided or stranded threads covered with a sheath. The center or core of the line gives it strength, and the sheath performs more of a protective and aesthetic function.

For smaller bluefish a lighter, cotton-braided line is good. When I go blue-fishing I take rubber finger-stalls along to prevent my fingers being chafed by the line. My readers should do the same.
