BURGEE (of unknown origin), a small three-cornered or swallow-tailed flag or pennant used by yachts or merchant vessels; also a kind of small coal burnt in engine furnaces.

 


BURGEE: Small, triangular flag flow at the masthead. It generally signifies membership of a specific yacht club, but sometime can be a blank or a private flag used mainly as a wind indicator.

Burgee
It is a small flag displaying the symbol of the skipper's yacht club or other sailing organization. It may be flown day and night.

Yacht club membership has its privileges. One of them is a really cool unique flag that every club assigns to its members. This flag is called a "Burgee," and its purpose is to identify each yacht club's member boats.

BURGEE A triangular shaped flag denoting the yacht club to which the owner belongs. BUTT Buttock. Used for developing the lines of a boat. Used only for lofting the lines to full size; not required when patterns are supplied.
