geographic position - The position of a boat on a chart.
Global Positioning System - GPS for short. A system of satellites that allows one's position to be calculated with great accuracy by the use of an electronic receiver.
geographic position - A fix; a charted position, GPS coordinates.
get a pull - To hand on a sheet or tack or fall of a tackle.
getting soundings aboard - Running aground.
A boat's location as plotted on a chart in terms of geographic position (longitude and latitude) or relative to landmarks and aids to navigation. Position finding is the science (and often the art) of finding where you are on the water.
