Buoyant garment. In Britain the name is reserved for one that will turn a person the rightway up. Otherwise its called a buoyancy aid.

The inflatable lifejacket part is wrapped in a comfy bri-nylon sausage around the neck, allowing the wearer full ease of movement.

A 10-foot inflatable, hard-bottom or rigid dinghy with outboard neatly stows from davits cantilevered just behind the cockpit. The whole thing nestles neatly between the hulls.

If it is an inflatable, make sure it is properly inflated and that you have an air pump on the boat. Find or ask where the air intake valve is.
Check the gasoline level in the tank and ask what mixture you should use for refilling it.

PFD: Our PFDs were CO2 inflatables. The CO2 cartridges could not be shipped by mail or airlines. After we arrived we bought new cartridges in Anacortes.

The bowline knot or clove hitch can be used to moor to a ring, and the bowline knot, to moor to a bitt. The boat, even an inflatable boat, must be equipped with fenders to cushion its landing at the dock.

Requirements include an inflatable life-raft to carry the entire crew, buoyancy aids and safety lines for each crew member, at least two life belts, a spare anchor and cable, spare compass, and a complete first aid kit.

Harbor shuttles, also known as "water taxis", may be available to transfer people between the shore and boats moored on buoys. The alternative is a tender such as an inflatable boat.
