Inlet: A narrow area of water extending inland from a large offshore body, such as the ocean, often connecting with an interior body, such as a bay or river.

Harbours and inlets often have an inflow or outflow, especially around sunrise and sunset. This is due to rising convection currents and displacement as the land and water are heated by the Sun (or cooling) at different rates.

Two of my friends and I were power-sailing North just off of Anna Maria Island, trying to get into Passage Key Inlet before the sun went down.

Set
To set sail is to hoist the sails into sailing position.

Cove:
(1) A small coastal inlet generally protected from the worst of the prevailing winds.
(2) A thin, hollowed line cut along a yacht's sheer below deck level and traditionally gilded.

Sound
1) To measure the depth of the water. 2) A long wide body of water that connects other large bodies of water. 3) A long, wide ocean inlet.
Sounding
The depth of the water as marked on a chart.
