reefing lines - Lines used to pull the reef in the sail. The reef line will pass through reef cringles, which will become the new tack and clew of the reefed sail.

Reef points: A horizontal line of light lines on a sail which may be tied to the boom, reducing the area of the sail during heavy winds.

The halyards and reefing lines lead aft to convenient stoppers, while the foredeck comes with a recessed anchor locker, electric windlass with foot switch and a sturdy anchor roller. There is a meticulous attention to detail on deck.

In jiffy, slab, or tied-in reefing, the sail is lowered a few feet, a strain is taken on the bottom of the sail with reefing lines (earings) passed through reef cringles in the sail, and the halyard is tightened.

When you charter bareboat-style, before you leave you should feel confident that you know about the following on the boat you plan to sail: location of safety mechanisms and equipment, safe operation of the winches, reefing lines, anchor(s), ...
