Riding sail
Also called a stability sail. Any small sail set to help the boat maintain its direction without necessarily moving, as when at anchor or in heavy weather.

Riding sails are small sails set on sail- and powerboats to limit rolling.
Storm sails, set in heavy weather, are a very small mainsail and jib (storm trysail and storm jib).
A topsail is a sail set above another sail.

The picture on the right shows a riding sail to help keep a boat pointed into the wind while at anchor. Note the lee boards on the side of this vessel which project out at a slight angle.

Also stability sail or riding sail. Any small sail set to help the boat maintain its direction without necessarily moving, as when at anchor or in heavy weather.

The mizzen mast is a great place to locate the radar, and a fully battened mizzen sail can be left up at anchor as a riding sail, keeping the boat head to wind. I don't think the Alerion will see much drive out of its 66-square-foot mizzen.
