running bowline - A type of knot that tightens under load. It is formed by running the standing line through the loop formed in a regular bowline.

 


RUNNING BOWLINE
It is made by passing the end of a rope round its standing part and forming a bowline as above.

Bowline:
A knot use to form an eye or loop at the end of a rope. A knot with many uses, it is simple and strong, its loop will not slip, and it is easily untied after being exposed to a strain. also see Running Bowline.

Bowse - To pull downward on a rope or fall in order to provide more tautness. Heave means an upward pull and Haul means a horizontal pull.
