Stowing and Coiling Lines
There are several ways to properly stow your line once it has cleaned. The simplest way is to coil the line in a clockwise direction.
Stowing the line
Take three or four feet of line from the back of the coil and make three turns around the coil. Pass a loop of the free end through the top of the coil. Pass the free end through the newly created loop.

skinning - In stowing a mainsail lifting the outside part up time after time, the bunt forming a kind of bag. This should never be allowed, as it ruins the sail.
Chain Locker - The compartment, near and below the hawse holes at the bow, for stowing the anchor chains; a compartment in the lower part of a ship for stowing an anchor chain.
When single, drawers for stowing clothing are often built in underneath. Tiers of berths constructed of pipe are commonly installed in the crew space. Also, a place for a ship. BETWEEN DECKS The space between any two, not necessarily adjacent, decks.
It's a beautiful piece of teak furniture that reveals a wine locker when it's in place, but stowing it against the bulkhead and unstowing it is a chore, an unnecessary one, it would seem.

On smaller vessels, where the bowsprit is not used for stowing sails, it is often horizontal. Bowsprits are rare on modern yachts; the forestay merely runs down to the tip of the bow.
So be sure to always air-dry it thoroughly before stowing it in an accessible place on board. Check it twice a year for mildew, leaks, insecure straps, or hardened stuffing.

When you hear these warnings, it is best to tie down your boat by doubling up any tiedowns or mooring lines and stowing any loose gear.
