tidal atlas - Small charts showing tidal stream directions and rate of flow.
tidal range - The difference of a tide's high and low water levels.
Tidal information will likely be covered on your chart but you can also use a tidal atlas for the sailing area you plan to chart. This is why a GPS system is not enough; it cannot give you tidal information.
