Yawls
Despite the efficiency of the single-masted rigs, my own preference for bluewater cruisers over 40 feet is a divided rig, the yawl or ketch.

Jigger Aft sail on the mizzenmast of a yawl or a ketch. After mast (4th mast) on schooner or sailing ship carrying a spanker.

Main Mast - The tallest mast; the forward mast of a yawl or ketch; the mast furthest aft on a schooner

The ketch is very similar to the yawl. Both rigs have a main, foretriangle, and a mizzen. The ketch generally has its mizzenmast (aft mast) farther forward than a yawl allowing for a larger mizzen.

Ketch: Similar to a yawl, has 2 masts: the mainmast and a mizzen mast. The mizzen mast is generally stepped forward of the rudder post (aft of the rudderpost on a yawl) and the mizzen mast is generally larger than a yawl's mizzen.

mizzen: the sail set on the aftermast of a yawl or ketch. mizzenmast: the aftermast on a yawl or ketch. starcut: a type of spinnaker whose cloth panels are cut in a distinctive star shape.

Some sailors use rudder post and mast placement to define the difference between a ketch and a yawl, similar two-masted vessels.
