Axil

Bonsai AuxinBack budding

The petiole attaches to the stem at a point called the "leaf axil". Not every species produces leaves with all of the afformentioned structural components. In some species, paired stipules are not obvious or are absent altogether.

They are clustered in the upper leaf axil, with clusers between 5-7 cm long. The bisexual flower has two papery with five petals and four to seven stamens. Plants are very rarely know to flower in a pot, though a few reported sighting have been made.

This species is dense with dormant buds embedded in the bark as well as the single bud contained in the leaf axil. When you prune this species, you get branches all over the place.
