Wiring Coniferous Trees
Since coniferous trees will continue to heal over winter, we can wire our coniferous bonsai trees at anytime from spring till early winter.

 


The Podocarpus (podocarpaceae) has about 75 species of mostly dioecious, coniferous trees and shrub, native to the temperate Southern Hemisphere and to the mountains and highlands of the tropics, North to the West Indies and Japan.

Most evergreen species, including coniferous trees will similarly display new buds starting to extend and emerge.

Taxus is a genus of yews, small coniferous trees or shrubs in the yew family Taxaceae. They are relatively slow growing and can be very long-lived, and reach heights of 1-40 m, with trunk diameters of up to 4 m.

They commonly attack coniferous trees like pine bonsai trees in hot weather. Spider mites are so small, if you do find them, what you'll see are tiny red, brown or yellow particles the size of ground pepper.

There is a huge choice of deciduous or coniferous trees and you should check the health and potential of the tree before you buy. For the impatient types it is possible to transform garden stock to the beginnings of a bonsai in a few hours! ...

Glazed pots are generally considered better for deciduous species whilst unglazed pots are generally used for coniferous trees.
Antique pots should be used for old trees, new pots should be used for younger trees.

Conifer: A tree that bears cones; mainly evergreen trees such as: pines, cedars, spruces and junipers. Coniferous trees have small and waxy leaves, sometimes needles, which are usually kept all year.

There are many different trees that can be made into bonsai trees. Among these are tropical trees and coniferous trees and many more. Almost all kinds of trees and shrubs can be made into a bonsai plant.
