Introduction
Flowering Quince, Chaenomeles spp, has been used by the Chinese for thousands of years to celebrate the New Year.

Chaenomeles is a genus of 3 species of deciduous, spiny shrubs from mountain woodland in Japan and China.

FLOWERING QUINCE (Chaenomeles)
The Flowering Quince is a wonderful choice for bonsai.

Boke(Flowering quince)
There are kinds that it blooms in February (Kan-boke), and April(Haru-boke). It seems to be difficult with the small pot though "Toyonishiki" which red, white are mixed in is a variety of "Haru-boke".

Japanese Flowering Quince is deciduous and best when grown outdoors.
Even grape vines can be made into a miniature bonsai-like plant, though they don't grow in the same form as trees.

Gardeners in the West often refer to these species as "flowering quince" (although all quince have flowers).

Flowering Quince - This comes from Asian countries and has a display of white and red flowers on bare branches. It is a world favourite and the leaves have tiny teeth and flowers grow in tight clusters.
