The inflorescence of Pacific Dogwood is the official flower of the province of British Columbia ...
Notes: The flower inflorescence are 2-5 cm. in diameter; pedicels 1-4 mm. long, glabrous, brown-reddish. Calyx usually shorter than the half of the corolla. Corolla 4-6 mm. long; petals ovate-oblong or elliptic, slightly reflexed.
When it does produce flowers, they are a creamy white inflorescence. Look closely and (except for the color) they are very similar to the dwarf powder puff. They (also like the Calliandra) are great bee attractors.
One of the plants was even developing an inflorescence! The leaves of a banana plant grown in the ground are often several feet long and flowering/fruiting is often accompanied by death.
