Kuromatsu

Bonsai Kuitsuki edaKusamono

Kuromatsu
Binomial name: Pinus thunbergii
Family: Pinaceae
Japanese name: Kuromatsu
English name: Japanese Black Pine
Description: Kuromatsu is seen mainly in seaside areas on Japan's main island of Honshu and to the west.

There is nothing more ludicrous than a nicely styled Nishiki Kuromatsu with two inch bark wings floating above a relatively smooth lower understock section.

The Japanese Black Pine is also known as the Japanese Pine, Black Pine, and (in Japanese) Kuromatsu ("'松). Some texts also list it under the superfluous scientific name Pinus thunbergiana.
