dig the plant up along with as many lateral roots as possible that extend out only about six inches or so from around the trunk base, ...

The pollen cones grow solitary from lateral buds. They are 3-5(-10) mm long, ovoid, globose, or ellipsoid, and yellowish-white to pale purple, and borne on a short peduncle.

Terminal growth and some laterals may be killed. Pine twig blight is a problem on stressed trees. The fungus will not ordinarily be a problem unless the host plant is weakened. The infection usually begins at the terminal bud near a branch tip.

Leaves growing at the tip of a terminal bud, lateral buds or axillary buds produce a hormone called auxin. The young, developing leaves produce auxins while the mature leaves serve as storage centers.

Terminal branches and lateral branches. Each branch has one terminal bud at the very end, and many lateral branches along the sides. The terminal buds grow in an outward direction away from the plant.

If there is already a good root pattern and strong lateral roots, prune the rootball so it is reasonably shallow and plant the tree on top of a tile, brick or flat piece of wood.

In nature these trees spend the first five years of their lives sinking their tap and lateral roots in search of water, the tops grow hardly at all.

Cut out unwanted stems, cut back remaining lateral stems anything between a third/half, according to the size of the plant and your intentional shape for a bonsai, ...

Accelerated growth produced good lower lateral branches. Most of the new growth was developed on the other side of the tree by pruning this side more often and facing the desirable growth area to the strongest light direction.

In areas with high humidity figs can cover large areas of ground by spreading laterally. They do this by dropping small hair-like roots from the trunks or branches.

The branches extend from the trunk laterally at all levels and at multiple sites of each level and branch. Removing one or two branches or sub-branches just seems to stimulate the growth of a dozen more buds throughout the tree trunk.

These triangles can be at any angle, however, the formal upright must consist of an equilateral triangle.

And the pictures are mostly close-ups, meaning that if the tree is placed on a stand, this stand occupies 90% of the area around the tree. So the stand is virtually the display area. If the tree has a strong lateral movement, ...

Since the planting will be made in a shallow container, the use of raw nursery material is not recommended. It is better that prospective plant materials be cultivated for one or two years in shallow container to encourage lateral rooting, ...

Lopho is identified by lateral yellow stripes on the needle. Angelgids look like a woolly fluff between the needles. Systemic will kill the animal but use a concentrated hose spray to wash away the fluff.
