'Issai nishiki kawazu' - very rough, rigid bark 'Kagiri nishiki' - similar to 'Butterfly' but more pinkish tones 'Karasu gawa' - slow-growing variegate with brilliant pink and white 'Katsura' -yellow-green leaves tipped with orange ...
There is nothing more ludicrous than a nicely styled Nishiki Kuromatsu with two inch bark wings floating above a relatively smooth lower understock section.
It is one of the means of cutting off first buds of pine trees, such as kuromatsu (black), akamatsu (red) and nishikimatsu (a variety of kuromatsu) pines and lining up their second buds to develop into short and beautiful leaves.
There are kinds that it blooms in February (Kan-boke), and April(Haru-boke). It seems to be difficult with the small pot though "Toyonishiki" which red, white are mixed in is a variety of "Haru-boke".
