Reverse osmosis will occur and your tree will slowly degenerate. Under-watering will starve your tree causing death! Ensure you maintain a daily watering regime, either in the evening or early morning.

Some members have had good results using reverse osmosis (R.O.) system water. Whatever kind is used, apply thoroughly so that run-off comes out of the drainage holes.

I now look from my living room, through the glass door wall to view my bonsai collection. State of the art glass, heat reduction, motorized vents, screens, reverse osmosis water, hot water heat etc. ... it's like a Burger King but with bonsai!" ...

noted that if the water in the soil has a stronger solution of nutrients than the roots, usually as a result of overfeeding, water will be drawn from the roots back into the soil, depriving the tree of water. This process is known as reverse osmosis.

dry-out by which time it is unlikely that the tree will survive without damage. Application of water at this point is often too late; moisture can actually be absorbed out of the roots back into the wet compost in a process known as reverse osmosis.
