The short, dark green recurving foliage arises from rhizomes, spreading to form dense, soft mats of at max. 4-5cm high.

 


Propagation: Divide the rhizomes. Bamboo are invasive, and will grow like crazy if you give them the space.

The basic shapes are: Crustose, like its name sounds, is 'crusty'; Foliose is 'foliage' or leaf like and connects to trees and rocks by small rhizomes; Fruticose appears to be a miniature shrub with tiny branches.
