CONTAGION (Encyclopedia)
Since the Asian crisis in 1997 the term contagion has been referred to the spread of financial turmoil across countries. Among economists there is little agreement on what exactly the term contagion entails.

Positive contagion is the tendency during a bubble period for new players to be attracted by the profits being earned by existing players.
