Documents are written evidence of title such as bills of lading, warehouse receipts, and dock receipts. To be a document of title, it must be issued by or addressed to a third party (called a bailee) and cover goods in the bailee's possession.
This would include evidence of Title, terms of sale, searches, leasehold information, guaranties and warranties and even a survey, called a Home Condition Report (HCR).
A written document given by a warehouseman for items received for storage in his or her warehouse, which serves as evidence of title to the stored goods.
It describes the goods, the details of the intended voyage, and it specifies the conditions of transportation. If issued in negotiable form, i.e. "to order", it becomes documentary evidence of title to the goods.
