Line Graph
Definition: A graph in which successive points representing the value of a variable at selected values of the dependent variable are connected by straight lines. (e.g. unemployment rates among youth over the last ten years).

 


Line graph - A line which shows the relationship between two variables.
Line management - The administration and management of the firms line functions. The administration of any activities which contribute directly to the firm's production.

LINE GRAPH: A graph containing one or more lines or curves that are used to represent relations between two (or more) variables. A line graph is a useful method of illustrating scientific principles and hypotheses important for the economic analysis.

A line graph that displays the intraday movements of a given security. This contrasts to longer term charts, such as those that show a security's movement over a period of days, months or even years.

The slope of a line graphed according to the value of an underlying asset on the x-axis and the value of a position taken to hedge against risk exposure on the y-axis. Also used with changes in value. See: Risk profile.

The advance-decline line graphs the ratio of stocks that have risen in value-the advancers-to stocks that have fallen in value-the decliners-over a particular trading period.

Risk profile
The slope of a line graphed according to the value of an underlying asset on the x-axis and the value of a position exposed to risk in the underlying asset on the y-axis. Also used with changes in value. See: Payoff profile.

It is considered bullish if more stocks advance than decline on any trading day. It is bearish if declines outnumber advances. The steepness of the A-D line graphically shows whether a strong bull or bear market is underway.
