NET INTEREST COST (NIC) " Indicates the average weighted coupon rate for a new municipal issue. For a competitive issue the issuer may request that the syndicates submit their bids in the form of an NIC.

Net Interest Cost (NIC)
Generally speaking, issuers award competitive bond sales to the underwriter bidding the lowest NIC.

Net interest cost: In a syndicate bid on a competitive bid underwriting, the cost of the offering to the issuer. It is adjusted for premium or discount prices, but does not include any net present value computations.

Net Interest Cost (NIC)
A mathematical formula that an issuer of bonds uses to compute the overall interest expense that is associated with their bonds, which they will have to pay.
