Interest Rates(s)
An interest rate is a standardized measure of either: (1) the cost of borrowing money or (2) the return for lending money for a specified period of time (usually one year), such as 12% annual percentage rate (APR).

Bank interest rates vary according to a number of reasons. Banks change the rates of interest they offer to customers for two basic reasons.

last accepted rates (LAR)
Definition
Prices accepted for identical or similar items in the previous tenders.

Rates based on a department's direct and indirect overhead costs and some measure of the department's activity, such as the department's machine hours.

Rates that apply to cargo traffic under special conditions and usually to and from a limited number of points.

Carded Rates

Floating rates

Flexible exchange rates Exchange rates that are allowed to fluctuate in the open market in response to changes in supply and demand. Sometimes called floating exchange rates.
