BMW 330i: Run-flat Redux
A few posts ago, I briefly mentioned our 330i's run-flat tires (RFT) and the ongoing online debate about them on various message boards, including our own Carspace.
BMW 328i models come with BMW's trademark 3.0-liter straight six, and we found it's more than powerful enough for brisk acceleration and a sinfully good time.
The BMW 330i Sedan is jammed with interior features for you comfort and convenience. Power windows, dual power mirrors, power door locks, and keyless entry system are just some examples.
The BMW 328i ($32,400) and 328xi ($34,300) sedans are powered by a 225-hp 3.0-liter six. This high-tech engine is the first in mass production with a magnesium alloy engine block, to trim weight.
The 2007 BMW 335i will be in showrooms next month, and is the first application of BMW's new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six.

At the end of the day 'though the BMW 3 series does tend to set the standard for others and the diesel version is not going to be the exception here. I found it a real pleasure to drive.
If there's an argument for the ongoing horsepower wars, it's got to be the BMW 335i. For the first time in history, BMW seems to have made a 3 Series that makes you wonder what the point of the M3 will be.

The BMW 3 Series has become the workhorse of the masses and this machine looks only slightly different to the hordes of homogeneous class that pound the outside lane of our highways and byways each and every day.
"In a BMW 3-Series, you feel like part of the car," Autos's editor Greg Wilson wrote in 2000, "whereas in an IS 300 you are a guest in the car." It is an important difference, and not necessarily a negative one.

Hartge H50 V10 Coupe
Hartge has customized the BMW E92 3 Series Coupe. The H50 V10 it is powered by a M5 V10 engine with an output of 550 hp and 383 lbs-ft of torque.
I drove a BMW 3 series for 9 yrs and just did not want to buy another with all the trans. and unavailability of parts. I looked at the KIA's primarily for the warranty of powertrain and loved it. It has great handling for a car its size.
(Worth noting BMW 3 Series has many more variants than the X-Type comes in, so is therefore more cars in the same body shell, than the X-Type, [which has fewer model variations at any one time]).
It's aiming this new car towards buyers of the BMW 3-series and Volkswagen Passat in a bid to establish the Honda name as a more upmarket brand. The Accord certainly looks the part now.
The Saab 9-3 is often forgotten amongst its more "mainstream" rivals such as the BMW 3-series and Audi A4, which is a shame as it's a genuinely strong contender in the compact executive market.

In price, it is competitive with BMW 3-Series and entry-level Mercedes vehicles. Cadillac has a strong, loyal ownership base, but for the Catera to compete it must better than the competition.
Sportier handling and ride comfort all in one is now being offered by KW automotive for the BMW 3 series coupe E92 with a suspension from the KW street comfort product line.
That’s good stuff - quicker and more powerful than a BMW 335d (one of the world’s great engines in its own right) and just as clean and economical. Put another way, it’s 61 per cent more torquey than the XF’s outgoing 2.
The researchers have converted a BMW 3 Series model into a prototype platform for a navigation system that can predict where the driver will be heading, and what route will be chosen, even when the driver has not entered a destination.
But those figures become all the more surprising when you note that the C220 CDI coupé weighs a substantial 1630kg - 95kg more than the BMW 320d coupé and 155kg more than the (manual only) 2.0 TDI Audi A5.
Lexus will move ahead with plans to finally add a Coupe to its lineup of BMW 3 Series competitors.
It may remind some of a BMW 328i, which is not a bad image to conjure up. However, despite the new design, there's considerable wind noise at highway speeds, and the power sunroof creates a lot of wind noise when opened.
Even at a theoretical level, those figures appear to be quite a sizeable penalty for a car that supposedly competes with the faster and more frugal BMW 330i Touring with Steptronic transmission, which appears to have a similar price tag.
