The car everyone wants, although its ubiquity means there's a lot less cachet in owning one these days. Superb rear-wheel drive handling, but the 3-series is expensive and cramped in the back.

Compare this to the BMW 318d SE - a typical, albeit premium, company car choice. The P11D value might be more at £25,995, but monthly tax at 20% is just £56.32, while 40% will push this to £112.63.

I took a Porsche Cayenne and BMW 318C1 2.0 owner for a short ride and neither of them realised it was a diesel. The handling and grip are definitely first class.
