I had a BMW 320d SE Auto (2007 model) for 2 years but found the boot impractical, didn’t need the rear seat space, and dropped from doing 20,000+ miles to 6,000 mile/year. So we changed to a 118i SE Auto (I just love auto’s).

0-litre turbodiesel (the same engine as used in the BMW 320d) is definitely the one to go for. The five-door station wagon is the most practical body; three-door versions suffer from leaks and it takes too long to remove the roof of the soft-top.
The petrol-powered IS250 puts in a strong performance - while still turning in decent fuel consumption figures. The turbodiesel engine in the IS220d is well-mannered, although not a match for the BMW 320d on performance or refinement.
