I’ve had a thing for the BMW 6-Series ever since “Spenser: for Hire' shared airtime with Mötley Crüe. While Robert Urich had a cool Mustang, Avery Brooks had a vehicle worthy of his icy-cold demeanor: a white BMW 635CSi.

Now a clear identifier of the BMW 6-series coupe and convertible, the shark nose is back, this time with a stylized waterfall structure on the grille uprights.

Best guesses are that the Essence will preview a big two-door coupe - perhaps BMW 6-Series size - which could enter production as Infiniti’s flagship performance model.

So comparing it to a BMW 6-series or a Mercedes CL-class is more fitting than, say, a Porsche 911 and there's nothing wrong with that. It is good looking, has a good amount of performance, while mixing in luxury and comfort.

The prestige coupe class is a small but elite group of cars. Inside this exclusive club the BMW 6-Series stands out as the most obvious rival in a popularity challenge but the CLS is definitely the most business minded and functional member.
