My mother, who drives a Buick LeSabre, certainly would not even recognize this car as a Buick. It's a legitimate, front-wheel-drive sport sedan with very athletic reflexes yet a supple ride and little torque steer.

We were visiting in South Texas from Wisconsin when we decided to look for a car to replace our Buick LeSabre. We fount a beautiful 08 Toyota Avalon in Corpus Christi and fell in love with it.

Bengal's 110-inch wheelbase is only two inches shorter than the Buick LeSabre - but that's somewhat misleading. Because its wheels are at the corners, the overall length of the Bengal is actually 25 inches less than the 200-inch-long LeSabre.

The last time around, Jaguar played it too safe. The 2004 XJ bore a striking resemblance to, of all things, a Buick LeSabre. The new version's part Aston Rapide, part Jaguar XF, with some kinky details highlighting (or spoiling) its drawn-long shape.

When Chevrolet brought out its all-new flagship model in 2000, it quite appropriately named it the Impala. The latest front-wheel-drive Impala shares its platform and many of its mechanics with the higher priced Buick LeSabre and Pontiac Bonneville.

Although the rear-wheel drive GM Zeta platform was considered, the production Lucerne introduced at the Chicago Auto Show on February 9, 2005, is a front-wheel drive derivative of the G-body Buick LeSabre.
