The Regal is Buick's midsize entry into a crowded field of not quite full size cars.
The Buick Regal GS has its roots in Europe's Opel Insignia OPC, but don't call this a badge-engineering exercise. Buick opted not to use the OPC's strident 2.
I agree. I had a 2001 Buick Regal GS with the Supercharged 3.8. It had only 240 HP, and 280 lb ft of torque, yet it ran o to 60 in 6.9 seconds. And it wasn't a light car by any means.
This new GS should be quicker.

The next model, Buick Regal GS Sedan, features upgrades to a leather reclining bucket seats with six-way power driver seat, and the sound system gets a boost from the eight-speaker Monsoon sound system.
I have had a '91 Buick Regal GS and a '93 Park Avenue when I bought the Riv for myself - then my wife took it for her car. Both other Buicks reached 500,000 kms, neither ever taking a drop of oil (but similar issues as the Riviera is presenting).

A new 2012 Buick Regal GS is coming, with a revised 2.0T engine that makes at least 35 more horsepower (possibly as much as 50 hp more) and 37 additional lb-ft of torque.
It was rated at 240 hp (180 kW) and had been previously used in the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, Buick Regal GS and Pontiac Bonneville SSEI.
