The Cadillac DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) replaces the Cadillac DeVille as that carmaker's largest luxury car for the 2006 model year. The DTS follows the naming and styling direction set by the earlier CTS and STS.

A Cadillac doesn't need to ride like a '98 Cadillac Deville, wafting down the road as if on American coastal waters.

1 inches (116 inches on the standard A8), essentially identical to its European competitors and substantially longer than that of the Cadillac DeVille. Other things equal, a longer wheelbase offers more passenger room and increased stability at speed.

They're both several inches wider and taller and hundreds of pounds heavier than a Cadillac DeVille. The cubic growth factor over the seminal 1984 model is a staggering 37 percent.

That's not much by truck standards, but for a budget-priced compact sedan, it's exceptional. Note that this is 1,000 pounds more than full-size sedans like the Cadillac DeVille and Mercury Grand Marquis are rated to carry.
