The Citroen DS3 was put on sale a mere 18 months ago and the company has already received 100,000 orders for it. As a thanks to their clients, Citroen will be bringing the DS3 Ultra Prestige to the Frankfurt Motor Show.
In truth, Citroen didn't bother. Until very recently, it could barely utter the car's name.

You know: the sci-fi movie starring the Studebaker Avanti, Rover P6 and Citroen DS Décapotable---all running with electric motors. They are breathtakingly, inimitably beautiful cars. In the movie, they only make a whirring noise.
That slots it neatly in between the Renault Twingo (165 and 285 litres respectively) and the Citroen DS3 (285 and 980 litres respectively). There's room for two adults in the back - just - but don't expect a massive amount of head or legroom.

The reason I got a Scudo is because the bloke I use to work for had a Citroen Dispatch, which is exactly the same van but different badges.
We wouldn't have bet on Citroen dropping such an impressive car at Paris that they'd steal the show from Lambo.

The 'S' likely derives from the Project 'S' designation, the aim of which was to produce what is essentially a sports variant of the Citroen DS, and the 'M' perhaps refers to Maserati, hence SM is often assumed to stand for 'Sports Maserati', ...
- MINI Cooper, Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Citroen DS3, SEAT Ibiza, FIAT Punto, Renault Clio, Honda Civic: sadly, they are still front-wheel drivers.
The official list prices look quite strong when compared to segment rivals, but the C4 Picasso pretty much manages to justify them - and that's before you factor in Citroen dealers' legendary willingness to offer discounts.

The C1's plentiful, youthful charm might have offset some of its shortcomings thus far - but in the face of much stiffer city car competition, this is fast becoming a hard car to recommend. It'd take a generous incentive by the local Citroen dealer ...
