An extremely rigid body (Daihatsu Copen, please note) plus a low centre of gravity give top handling. Objectively it is not that fast, but it always feels rapid and urgent when you want to press on while being surprisingly refined when cruising.
We loved the Daihatsu Charade turbo and bemoaned the missing GTTi. The fast Familia and the incredible Kei class Japanese were more cars we never saw in decent numbers.

A long time ago I owned a 660cc Turbo Daihatsu. It featured a big turbo, water/air intercooler and larger injectors. It got to 100 km/h in about 6.9 seconds.
Everything from an amusingly small and slow Daihatsu Copen through to a devilishly powerful 1994 Tyrell. Some have bored me, most have brought a smile to a face one way or another.

This is al+D175l the stranger when Daihatsu provides cover for 60,000 miles. Still, the Myvi is well put together, though some of the interior plastics are hard, shiny and missing the visual charm of several other rivals.
That means it's taking on a wide cross section of rivals, from little soft-roaders like the Daihatsu Terios and Suzuki SX4, to Citroen's small MPV the C3 Picasso, to the Kia Soul.
Buy the cars you want to drive, damn the financials. Find the NSX or 911 or Ferrari or Chevrolet or Daihatsu you like, buy it and drive the piss out of it. It's better to regret something you did than something you didn't do.
