"The Ford Cougar isn’t new - it’s been out for years you fool!".
For several decades, Ford sold various successful Mercury models under a Ford badge, most notoriously the Mercury Zephyr as the Ford Elite II, Ford Grand Marquis, Ford Cougar and the Mercury Sable sold here as the Ford Taurus.
The Merc CLK is better (but not cheaper), the Ford Cougar is a good bet for £5,000 less than the 2.5 20v, and then of course the BMW 328 coupe isn't too bad either.
Perhaps former owners of Ford Probes, Ford Cougars, Mazda MX6s, old-shape Toyota Celicas, Vauxhall Calibras, VW Corrados, Volvo 480s.
Still, top marks for ambition, EWT. What next, guys? An Audi R8 based on a Ford Cougar? Oh…
