"FORD GT"
In April 1964, paint still drying after a transatlantic flight, the strikingly modern "Ford GT" wowed the motor press in New York.
The Ford GT really looked gorgeous when it was first revealed in London on April 1, 1964. There was a lot to learn about aerodynamics in those days, though, and Jo Schlesser completely destroyed the first prototype at the Le Mans trials a week later.
So this week the Ford GT was dropped off at Santa Monica Ford at about 7:45 a.m. to have the windshield replaced and the slight buzz in the driver's door panel (coming from the loose aluminum door panel trim ring) addressed.

Pulling up to a field of 200 cars at last year's Texas Mile, hundreds of people laughed and shook their heads at Jeremy Freedman and his '97 VW GTI. Also in the queue were a Ford GT, Porsche 911, Toyota Supra and Lamborghini Gallardo.
It recalls a golden age in which the badge was exclusively reserved for the finest motoring machines ever built - all-time classics such as the Ferrari 250GT, Maserati 3500GT, Ford GT40 and Alfa Romeo's own Giulia Sprint GT.
Boy do I wish I had an extra 100k sitting around. This would be in the stable. Definitely one of a kind and I mean that positively. You show up in this and nothing else is noticed, except my all time favorite the Ford GT.
