The Caprice began life in mid-1965 as a luxury trim package for the Impala four-door hardtop sedan, in response to the successful Ford LTD series.
In that first year it was known as the Ford LTD. After its introduction, Crown Victoria seemed a more regal name that was well-suited to the largest and most opulent model in the Ford lineup.
Though it lacks the stretch-out space of say, a Ford LTD or a Holden Caprice, the Millenia can readily accommodate four adults of average size.
Replacing the Ford LTD, the front wheel drive Taurus introduced a much rounder and more organic design. Often described as "jelly bean" shaped, the design proved successful and helped to launch Ford into a new era of prosperity.

That said, the Sedona does feature steering, body control, and roadholding ability that are all far better than what you'll find on the typical Toyota or 1979 Ford LTD.
