Honda Civic Type R Drive Impression
After the successful launch of the new Civic sedan range in 2006, Honda has introduced into Australia the Honda Civic Type R. It marks the return of their 'hot hatch'.
Honda Civic Aero Deck 1.8 litre 16v 170bhp 133mph top speed 0-60mph 8.8secs (feels faster) 32mpg combined. (more like 20mpg if you thrash it) £17,295 - On sale across Europe April 1st.
The Honda Civic Type R is, in a word, unique.
The current kings of the hot hatch world, the Ford Focus XR5 Turbo, VW Golf GTI, Holden Astra SRi Turbo et al are all based on existing models on sale in Australia.
The Honda Civic certainly stands out in a crowd thanks to its sharp lines that are a major departure from previous Civics.

Although New-Cars.
Honda Civic sedans have always been fairly boxy in nature and it seems that Honda has always been satisfied to leave it to the aftermarket to improve this car's looks. Not the case with this Civic sedan. The exterior design is smooth and flowing.
Honda Civic Si: Flat Rear Floor Makes All the Difference
Here's something I've always liked about our Civic Si (and the last two generation Civics in general): the flat rear floor.
Honda Civic is an icon. Honda sells more than 325,000 Civics a year in the U.S., making it one of America's best-selling compacts. They are notable for offering excellent fuel economy and sporty handling.
The Honda Civic wasn’t created for performance drivers - it’s a compact car, and it’s priced and powered accordingly, after all.
The Honda Civic DX, is the base model and it really does the job for a lot of people. Others, as I have mentioned, thinks that the amenities are just too low in the DX.
The Honda Civic DX coupe ($14,810) and DX sedan ($15,010) are the base models. Standard equipment is confined to power windows, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, height-adjustable driver's seat and fold-down rear seatback.
When the Honda Civic Si was redesigned in 2001, it caused much consternation among devoted Civic Si-chos.
When the Honda Civic hybrid comes on sale this side of the Atlantic next year, it won't be noticed much.
