The company's flagship car is the Ariel Atom, an extremely light, high performance car; The UK version is based around the Honda Civic Type-R engine and gearbox, while in the USA the Atom is available with the supercharged GM Ecotec engine.
GTI we don't get or as a poor man's Audi S3, minus the quattro drivetrain. In the UK, the Cupra R sells for 16,995 ($26,350), which is $11,000 cheaper than an S3, and $4,651 less than the new Ford Focus RS, but $1,550 more than a Honda Civic Type-R.
The cabin also comes packed with kit, including a CD autochanger, climate control and automatic headlights/wipers. It's certainly better equipped than the rival Honda Civic Type-R, but the plethora of cheap-feeling plastics belie its budget origins.
