This midsize luxury cruiser was revised for 2008, with a more powerful V8 engine bumped up from 4.3 liters to 4.6 -- good for an increase of 52 horses.
The XF looks a lot like a Lexus GS in profile. That's no bad thing, but the XF hardly provides the drama that you'd expect from the brand that created the original XJ in the 1960s.
It may well be world's most efficient car and so on, but I did prefer when at Mercedes they didn't think at Lexus GS when designing new cars.
Lexus GS? Yawn. Audi A6? Close. BMW 5 Series? Oh, please. Augmenting the looks on this car is an AMG Sport Package.

The idea of performance driving out of a hybrid isn't new. In 2005 Toyota had their Lexus GS450, sure it was only 28 MPG and $50K...but it did 0-60 in 5.2 AND it was Plush/Fat!

That's more than the Audi A6 (5,990, including the S6), the Lexus GS (6,367) and the Lincoln MKS (15,387). Better selling competitors include the Acura TL (30,453), BMW 5 Series (36,195) and Chrysler 300 (34,154).

move ahead with plans to finally add a Coupe to its lineup of BMW 3 Series competitors. The two-door will joint the range as a part of the third-generation IS series of cars, which will hit the road roughly a year after the debt of the new Lexus GS.
