Upon driving the Lincoln LS upon its initial introduction in San Francisco in 1999, we expressed-in a bit of understatement-that we could imagine way worse things than being stuck in a Lincoln LS for, say, a decade or two.
The Lincoln LS Sedan features five-speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. The estimated fuel consumption rating measures 18/25 (city/hwy).

Before these days of endless, shameless bling, V8 sedans of a sporting nature took their job seriously. Flat black trim outsold chrome and wood by a hefty margin.
The Lincoln LS, introduced in 1999 as a 2000 model, has undergone several changes for 2003, including a power boost, upgraded steering, new suspension components, electronic parking brake and the availability of safety canopy airbags.
This Mustang is based on a modified version of the platform that underpins the Lincoln LS and Jaguar S-Type luxury cars, albeit with some cost-trimming features such as live-axle rear suspension.
Ford purchased BMW 524td diesel engines and used them in their Lincoln LSC coupe for about three years. The same engines were also used in the Vixen 21TD motorhome.
The letter 'e' in 528e stands for the Greek letter 'eta' and implies 'efficiency'.
The 5R55S automatic, also used in the Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird, has closely spaced ratios that keep the engine in its power band to produce better acceleration, with a wide ratio that provides remarkably good highway fuel economy.
Right off the bat, you'll find the Thunderbird is not unlike a Lincoln LS in its interior space, handling and road manners. And it throws a bit of Jaguar S-type performance and ride into the mix too.
Inside is uninspiring with the dashboardwas takendirectly out of the Lincoln LS8 - a car with which this new Thunderbird shares its chassis,engine and gearbox with.

It is based on the Ford/Jaguar DEW platform which it currently shares with the Lincoln LS, but with substantial modifications. The car was styled by the late Geoff Lawson. A minor facelift in 2004 refined the car's overall appearance.
Not my cup of tea, but I recommended one to my father-in-law when he ditched his Crown Vic. He surprised me by getting a Lincoln LS, which I like a lot, but he does not.

In 2000, I went to over to Ford where I was a new product launch specialist and responsible for the product launch of some great cars like the 2003 Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird, and 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid.
I really just wanted to hear some genuine feedback on the car- cause its looks pretty nice to me, and i've been known to knowingly/willingly buy gift wrapped pieces of sh!t in the past (ie, Lincoln LS) ...
