Mazda's 626 model 'came of age' when it turned twenty-one at the end of 1999, having first appeared on the Australian market in December 1978.
The Mazda 626 is produced as a joint venture between Ford and Mazda at the company's Flat Rock, Michigan plant. It uses enough U.S.-made parts to qualify it as a domestic vehicle and it's Mazda's best-selling car.

I had a Mazda 626 2.0 auto for several years and loved every minute of it. Very reliable but thirsty car. When it came to changing it, I went for an Audi A4. Nice car but not as reliable. In 2002, I opted for a company car and chose the Mazda 6 TS 2.

Nolan1966 mentioned an old Mazda 626 with a new nose? I think that's being offensive and insulting to Mazdas lol. But yes, he does have a point. Series 1 Prius someone else mentioned. Crap! Even the Morris Marina looked better than this effort.

The Mazda6 is much more than the all-new replacement for the Mazda 626. In fact, it's much more than Mazda's first genuine competitor for the Honda Accord or Toyota Camry, and while that may not be a surprise, it certainly is significant.
The Autozam Clef was a mid-size sedan sold under Mazda's minicar marque from 1992 until 1994. It shared Mazda's GE platform with cars like the Mazda 626 and MX-6. The front fascia bore a strong resemblance to the forthcoming Ford Escort ZX-2.
As far as I know the exhaust was fairly stock. So are there any combinations of diameter or length that can improve the sound. eg my standard Mazda 626 V6 sounds like crap. I've loved the articles over the years, Thanks for the stories.
